What a joke. First and foremost, the screening email they initially sent me was absolutely riddled with grammatical and spelling errors. Immediate turn off. Upon checking the reviews on their facebook page, it is extremely obvious that all of the positive reviews are fake accounts, presumably set up by Oscar. My main issue with this company, however, is their ridiculous notion that unpaid work is somehow still acceptable as it adds 'experience' to one's resume. Newsflash: my first job in Toronto fresh out of school paid a total compensation of $62,000 a year. Plenty of companies in the bay area readily pay new grads >= $100,000, experience or not. So, to everyone reading this that is new to the software development job market, please know that there are plenty of of jobs out there that will pay a decent salary regardless of lack of experience. You do not have to settle working for scumbags like this and are worth so much more. Please also consider the fact that this company has been operating for a few years and still hasn't managed to raise a dime. Pathetic. There guys are clowns, and hopefully have misrepresented enough people during the hiring process that would allow a suit to be filed against them.
