      I wasn't going to share my experience with Klaviyo's interview process but I think it will help future applicants set their expectations. I worked with Klaviyo for over a month on a position and was moved all the way to the final round. The interview process consisted of: 1) 20 minute screening 2) 30 min call with hiring manager 3) Panel of interviews (30 minutes with two CSMs walking through a case study, another 30 minute with another CSM, a 30 minute with a supervisor, and one more interview with another CSM. It was a long 2.5-3 hours of interviews) 4) Final interview with the director of the CSM division I excelled in most parts of the interview process, especially the case study. Verbatim was told that I passed with flying colors and the interviewers on the call applauded my execution. I felt so great after every step of the interview, even my final round with the Director. There were several indications that I make a good fit and I was honestly expecting an offer - that's how confident I was with how things went. I then had to wait about two weeks to hear back since the final interview because involved parties were on unannounced vacation. They emailed back asking to have a phone call (another indication that we might be discussing terms) all for them to provide me with not-so-great feedback: that I came across as tactical and less strategic which this position requires. Blows my mind because the case study was an acute test of strategy skills which I did very well on. I asked to be considered for another role, had a call with that recruiter who later suggested another role. I've exhausted my time with Klaviyo and think that this was a very led-on, emotional rollercoaster of a process. I'm fine with rejection, but this felt like someone led me on then dumped me.. it was worse that a typical rejection notice. I've had interviews recently with their competitors and I'm so grateful for their processes after going through these tough 6 weeks of Klaviyo. I honestly feel that I have the thickest skin now since this happened - so I guess that's a silver lining. Note to Klaviyo team: You might think you're helpful by scheduling a call to reject and provide negative feedback but it's VERY confusing. Please consider rejecting your candidates via email and then offering a phone call to hear feedback. I thought I was jumping on the line to talk terms, so when I heard rejection, I couldn't even hear the feedback because I was still processing the rejection. Not nice at all. Final note: The position is still available after 6+ weeks so that's interesting.

      They asked me to review one of their customer's email marketing strategy and to suggest ideas on how to improve it. Qs were very STAR modeled, so prepare to have a few examples top of mind that you can use to answer how they played out and your impact on them. "Hypothetically, if you were given 100 customers to work with on your first day, how would you prioritize who to work with first?"

      Applied online, received email to schedule a screening call a few weeks later. A day or so after the screening call received email to schedule interview with the hiring manager. She was great, very professional, asked relevant questions. About a week later was notified that I didn’t make it to the next round. Communication throughout the process was great, they have an online portal to track application status, and on the whole I felt like their process was much less dehumanizing than I’ve come to expect from tech companies.

      I have no clue what the process is because their recruiters refuse to offer me even a simple screening. I'm a 17-year SaaS veteran with 9 years in customer success, and my experience is very well aligned with their roles—yet I receive an instant rejection (likely from their applicant tracking system). While watching women continually land roles here and at other organizations all over LinkedIn, I'm convinced that Klaviyo is practicing discriminatory hiring practices based on age and gender. Everyone is beginning to understand that "DEI" often means fewer men and more women. It's just a matter of time before the ship rights itself and companies start focusing on productivity and employee retention again.
