I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jimmy John's (Champaign, IL) in Sep 2015
Interview
1st round - Group Interview:
The first interview will be the group interview. It's not really an interview though, you'll just be in a classroom setting where a few people will outline the details of the job for an hour. It's VERY laid back. Make sure you can ask thoughtful questions about the position and be friendly. I thought it was fairly obvious in an interview you should never ask questions about "paid time off, vacations, wages, sick days, discounts on JJ's food, working with certain people, etc." However, I was shocked at how clueless some people were in my group because they asked all of these questions... Don't be dumb like these people, let someone else ask these stupid questions and make themselves look bad. Obviously everyone wants to know about those things but if you ask those questions you seem lazy and inexperienced in an interview setting. (I noticed none of these people made it further in the interview process) At the end they will give you a sheet a paper with 10 questions to fill out. Keep your answers short and sweet
2nd round - Individual Interview:
If you get a call back they will set you up on an interview with 1 or 2 other employees. This is also very laid back. They will just go over your resume and ask questions about it along with the sheet of 10 questions you filled out in the group interview. Make sure you can talk a lot about your resume and remember the answers you put to those 10 questions. Just be outgoing and friendly and you'll do fine.
They will also give you an oral drug test at the end so make sure you're clean!

Interview
I just got a group "interview" which is what the called it. It was simply an information session. I prepared for questions and everything but not a single question was asked to the group. Just the interviewers talking at us and dropping the f-bomb 13 times in the span of an hour. I counted. So unprofessional and very male-centric as their language was sexist at times. Also, the job is just handing out sandwiches and working in the store. I didn't go to college to make sandwiches. So there's that. I just had an awful experience interviewing with Jimmy Johns and sincerely wouldn't recommend it.
