      Developer Support Engineer Interview

      Feb 27, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jama Software (Portland, OR) in Sep 2018

      Interview

Initial phone invite to discuss about the position responsibilities and salary expectation. Next was a phone interview with the Customer care manager which went pretty easy. She asked about my experience and general behavioral questions to understand how I would work on an issue with a customer, my approach, etc Next I was asked to come for an onsite interview. It had 4 stages. Stage 1 was with 2 employees who were from the customer care and just asked about my experience. Stage 2, was with 2 developer support engineers. They asked me basic unix questions and my experience. Stage 3 was with 2 frontend developers who asked questions related MVC, angularjs basics, json, etc. Stage 4 was by the supervisor and she asked just general easy behavioral questions. The recruiter called me and told that they were happy with my skills but, since I was on H4 EAD the company was not interested. I had already mentioned about my work permit in the online application and I felt sad when I didn't get the offer. I wish the recruiter had checked this on the first place.

      Developer Support Engineer Interview

      May 18, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Jama Software (Portland, OR) in May 2017

      Interview

I submitted an application online, then was promptly contacted for a phone screen. After a lovely conversation with the jama recruiter, I was scheduled for a phone interview with the TSE/DSE manager. We talked for 30 minutes, which was far too short! Then the recruiter sent interview exercises from the team; 3 of them. We scheduled a time to come into the office. Their recruiter showed me around the (very nice) office, then I met to do 2 more technical exercises with a TAM and an implementation engineer. Then I chatted with a fellow TSE and an account manager about culture fit, other questions about how I work with customers. Then I got to meet the VP of Customer Care, and finally the TSE/DSE manager in person. Once we finished the 3-hr interview day, I was contacted by their recruiter that they would have a decision by the next week. They followed up when they said they would and offered me the position!
