Interview
Several stage interviews and an unpaid exercise. I was a finalist but was dragged along for several weeks after with no followup. I sent several emails to finally hear back that they went with another candidate. I urge this company to respect people's time and be thoughtful in the interviews they carry out. I found the people interviewing for the position had no idea how to evaluate someone for the role. Next time you don't have the in house expertise to properly evaluate someone's skills I recommend reaching out to your networks to have someone with a similar role sub in on interview. I love the mission of this organization but I found their people skills lacking across multiple levels. The leadership especially. I found the people and staff lovely.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Institute for Sustainable Communities (New York, NY) in Jan 2025
Interview
Three interviews over a month time period, with one writing sample- which they never give feedback on. I thought they were pretty standoffish but still pretty nice. the head of talent acquisition/ or recruiter always had a dark screen, they were kind but the one problem I had with them is that they ghosted me after the last interview, even though throughout the interview process, after each interview I would communicate with them to ensure clarity and next steps. I would urge anyone who interviews with these people to find a better organization to apply to, these people don't really believe in effective and succinct communication and it is a very poorly run organization, on top of that, there are pay is pretty low. A senior role should easily be making more than 90K

Interview
There was a standard screening call done by HR. I got invited to do a panel interview with three staff member. The questions were extremely long and complex and as a result, they were shared in the chat. The staff was not very friendly and had a hard time explaining the position. The whole conversation was awkward - i couldn't believe this organization works on environmental/social justice issues.
