I participated in a multi-month hiring process that ran from November through February. The process included a written assignment, a preliminary panel interview, and a final (in person) interview day lasting approximately five hours. As part of the final round, candidates were asked to prepare and deliver a 20-minute presentation, followed by discussion with the search committee.
The interviewers were professional and the conversations themselves were substantive. However, the overall process was quite time-intensive for candidates, particularly given the preparation required for the presentation and written work. However, the process required significant preparation and time investment from candidates.
After the final interview, communication was limited to a generic rejection email, and follow-up requests for feedback were not answered. Given the level of effort required from candidates throughout the process, even brief feedback would have been appreciated.
Because the office focuses on preparing students for the job market and building strong employer relationships, candidates may reasonably expect the hiring process to reflect the same professional standards around communication and feedback.
Advice to other candidates:
Be prepared for a multi-step process requiring substantial preparation for the final interview. It may also be helpful to clarify timelines and expectations for feedback early in the process.
