      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at IXL Learning (San Mateo, CA) in Jun 2012

      Interview

I first encountered IXL at my university's career fair (sometime in April), chatted with one of the employee representatives, then dropped off my resume. Around late May, I then received an e-mail asking to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was about a week later; the employee who conducted it was quite friendly, and it basically went like this: -introduction to IXL--what they do, industry, company size -info about the Education Sales Consultant position (the interviewer had started in this position, then moved up) -questions: why do you want this position? where do you see yourself in the future/long term goals? are you passionate about sales? can you give me three reasons for why you would succeed in this position? what are your weaknesses? do you have any questions for me? After an okay interview, I received a follow-up e-mail within 24 hours telling me I had moved on to the next step--a skills test (due within a week) where you basically show IXL that you are capable of finding information on their website and writing professional e-mails. After submitting the test, there was a response e-mail saying that they were determining who would move on, and a few days after that, I received an e-mail to schedule an in-person interview. The in-person interview was at the San Mateo office; I was escorted upstairs to IXL's floor by one of the administrative personnel, and then left in a conference room to fill out a paper job application and wait for my first interviewer. First interviewer was the Director of Sales (I think...basically whoever is in charge of the sales department). Questions similar to those from the phone interview, but a bigger emphasis on "why do you want to do sales?" and "what can you offer our company?" Interviewer, in terms of demeanor, was similar to what others have described on glassdoor--somewhat standoffish, not particularly welcoming expression--but wasn't that awful. Just very serious. Questions were not read off a sheet, but interviewer would occasionally look over my resume as she asked and listened to answers. She warmed up slightly at the end when I asked her questions about her experience as a sales consultant and at IXL. After this interview, there was an at least 10 minute wait for the next interview. I spent the time watching pigeons (office is on the sixth floor, if I remember correctly, and has a lovely view). Second interview was similar, also one-on-one, and with whoever's in charge of hiring/employees. Interviewer was slightly friendlier and more willing to smile. This probably didn't go so well... After the second interview, one of the admins came to let me know that they were done, and would let me know their decision soon. The admin people were refreshingly nice and smiley and welcoming in contrast to the interviewers.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at IXL Learning (Oklahoma City, OK) in Sep 2023

      Interview

Multiple interviews with an in depth presentation created and presented to a panel of 3, then individual interviews with each. In person interview with the hiring manager and told it was the final interview and should be receiving an offer from HR in the email by the end of that week. I received a couple of text replies when I had questions and it even included the start date. I was completely ghosted after that….. followed up with hiring manager and HR recruiter multiple times and finally after nearly 3 weeks heard back that they hired some else. Very unprofessional and a waste of time. I do not recommend this company.

      Interview

The application process was fairly easy. I applied for the role via their website and was contacted via email about a week later to schedule a phone screening. The phone screening lasted about 30-minutes and seemed to go well, but I never heard back.
