Phone screening followed by interview with section manager and panel of team members. Then about a month later with newly hired position manager. General interview questions, the panel was benign and easy. The managers were a bit socially awkward and I had to keep the conversations going. I was caught off guard by this as most managers I’ve dealt with from menial jobs to law firms have had warm -if sometimes intense- personalities.
The panel was scheduled for an hour and lasted exactly while the manager interviews were scheduled for 30 minutes and lasted 20.
I was probably under-qualified for aspects of the job and over-qualified for other aspects so it probably isn’t surprising that I didn’t make the final cut.
I thought it was very unprofessional to not break the news via a phone call after four different interviews. The whole experience made me get serious about my job search and I decided to pay off my Huntington mortgage when I didn’t get the job in spite so not a total loss but a lot of wasted time and scrambling for child care.
