      Model Interview

      Positive experience
      Easy interview

The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hollister Co. in Oct 2010

      Interview

Before I begin, I'm going to say that I just had the interview today, so that's why I put no offer. I don't know yet. The manager said it would be up to a week before we heard back from them. So anyway, they have group interviews twice per week. There were 5 people total in mine. Two for the model position, three for impact. Model is just the name for the people that are in the front of the store and in each of the rooms making sure everything looks nice. There are no runways or fashion shows. That had to be explained to one of the impact applicants. The impact members work in the back room of the store making sure shipments come in and get put in the right places. Being a model is definitely easier. You just have to look presentable and fold clothes. The manager took us out of the store and we all walked to a lounge area in the mall where we answered the interview questions. Since there were people for both positions, it took a little longer because there were different questions for each. It was really relaxed. She started by reading the descriptions of each job. Then we moved onto questions. There were maybe 4 or 5 questions total. After the questions, the manager went over the policies of the store, number one being the look policy. Guys have to be clean shaven before each shift, no visible tattoos, no hoop earrings for girls, etc. She stressed that we don't absolutely have to buy Hollister brand clothes, but you're getting an employee discount, so you might as well. You can only wear navy, gray, or white, no visible brands of competing companies (this includes anything that can distinguish a brand, including back-pocket stitching on jeans), and only flip flops (navy, gray, white, or leather) or Vans sneakers (specific colors, I don't remember but it was more than the usual three). There must be absolutely no black or purple because they don't sell anything in either color, and no plaid if it isn't by Hollister (it's their staple and they have their own fit, etc). The other policy was something along the lines of while they are a hip and cool store, they still expect their associates to behave properly and business-like. So don't fool around just because it's that kind of atmosphere. After that, we asked any questions we had, thanked the manager and were on our separate ways. It was painless. A few tips: Don't dress completely in Hollister clothes, it makes you look desperate. Look neat and presentable. Don't have your pants ridiculously low, or a shirt that doesn't fit properly. Also don't be blatantly wearing another brand with huge logos. I wore Hollister jeans, and a logo-less top from another store and basic sneakers.

      Interview

A common question asked in group interview settings is, “What does diversity mean to you?” It's a foundational topic that allows candidates to express their understanding of inclusion, equity, and respect for different perspectives. This question often opens up dialogue around how individuals value unique backgrounds, experiences, and identities in the workplace. It's not just about race or gender—it encompasses cultural, generational, and even cognitive differences. Employers use this to gauge how someone might contribute to a supportive and collaborative environment where everyone feels seen and heard.

They choose who they like. Not difficult just don't be weird. There lost their sheen recently though so you should be fine if you don't fit the mold. Is there not 30 words yet this is ridiculous I don't know if I can trust this site
