After the general phone screening, I participated in a video interview with the hiring manager for the role. The interview with the hiring manager was very direct and focused primarily on situational questions and how I would handle those situations. Some questions were irrelevant to what I expected the role to entail, so I was led to believe that this role had expectations beyond that of UX. The interviewer called me by the wrong name multiple times and was very cold, which heavily contradicted how praised the warm, friendly culture of the company was in the screening. While I appreciated the interviewer providing follow-up questions to my answers, almost every response I gave was met with a "but ..." and felt argumentative. After reaching out to HR to withdraw and share my concerns about a misalignment of the represented culture, the response I received was condescending and showed truly what the company's culture is like. I considered this interview difficult not because the questions were difficult but because the interviewer himself was difficult to communicate with.

The interview process was straight forward with 5-6 rounds, team members were friendly and inviting. The recruiter guided through the steps and answered questions promptly when I was in doubt.
