      Customer Service Associate Interview

      Feb 29, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Sparks, NV
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Grainger (Sparks, NV) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Initially, I was called by a recruiter from what I assume to be the headquarter branch in Illinois. The recruiter set up a proper time to call and conduct a 10-15 phone-interview. After the interview, I was told I would be informed of the decision after about a week (email if they weren't going to continue, or a call if they decided to set up an in-person interview). After a week of hearing nothing, I got an email from the Headquarters recruiter saying that the process was taking time and that I was still being considered--which is extremely cool for a company to do because it doesn't leave the applicant in the dark the whole time. I got a call a few days later, setting up an in-person interview. The dress was business professional and the recruiter also outlined some tips to help during the local interview. I arrived 15 minutes early to my interview, took a little tour of the sales floor while I waited, and then I spent an hour going over my resume, behavioral questions and questions of my own. Two people sat in on my interview and took turns asking me questions and answering my own. At the conclusion of my interview, one of them walked me outside. Grainger really made me feel like a person looking to join their team, and not like a guy desperately selling myself just so they give me a chance to work with them. I really hope I get the chance to work with them, but if not, I'm not going to be salty about it because in the end, they gave me a chance to prove my value, but they also helped me tremendously improve myself as a job-seeker and interviewee. If you're reading this, I hope you have the same exact interview experience I did because I really felt compelled to write this after my experience. I usually don't write reviews on anything, not even if I had bad food at a restaurant. But Grainger made it really hard to keep this experience to myself. Good luck!

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Grainger (New York, NY) in May 2019

      Interview

I don't remember actually applying for Grainger. A recruiter called me and interviewed me and I felt like it was going to turn into a Google Hangouts scam thing because I get 10 of those a day and I always accept then initially because I need immediate gratification and it's depressing to know that people are passing me over but hiring other candidates for dangerous positions etc. Not going to get into that but a week later they asked me to come in for an in person interview. Houston happened to be be in a state of emergency due to flooding and they asked me to come in the next morning. The address was literally underwater when they asked me so again I thought it was part of the scam. I accepted thinking Houston's weather is bipolar and it'll be bright and sunny the next day. It was still flooded so I called to let them know I'm not swimming to the interview but you don't get the local store when you call. The person I talked to was in Wisconsin and she didnt believe me and hadn't heard what damage hurricAne Harvey had caused so again I assumed this was a no go. The next day I got a second interview confirmation telling g me to be there Monday at 10am. I got there at 9:30 in a suit. Manager kind of laughed about it and said dress for the job you want. Interview lasted 45 minutes and two days later I got an offer. It's part time but it's something. Grainger is a good company and I look forward to working with them. :-)

      Interview

You first go through a phone interview. They ask a lot of situational questions. Also, do you research on the company and what they market. If you pass, then you go to an in person interview. Similar questions are asked, and I got offered a position at that interview.
