I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GitHub (Denver, CO) in Nov 2021
Interview
Extremely boring. By the books. He was reading a script and even cut me off before I could complete an answer. He rolled his eyes when I tried to dig in deeper. Interviewer felt annoyed I tried to actually converse with him.
As most of the process was automated, I didn't feel like anyone at github wants to connect as persons.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at GitHub in Jan 2022
Interview
30 minute phone screen with HR, 30 minutes Zoom with hiring manager, three 60 minutes interviews with the team. Completed the entire interview process but was regretted with a generic email template that 2/3s of it was saying I’m now penalized from applying again for six months and provided no feedback whatsoever.

Interview
I interviewed for two engineering manager positions and talked to two recruiters at GitHub. Both were very open about the process as well as the compensation and benefits for the position which I found to be extremely helpful. They also asked me to sign an NDA in order to proceed, so I'll just speak to my perceptions of the process.
First Position: The recruiter skipped the first round of interviews with me and went straight to the second round interviews. During the interviews the interviewers seemed bored as they read off their questions and typed out my answers. This didn't sit well with me, but they were spending all day in interviews asking the same questions to a number of candidates. While I had a lot of experience with their product, they determined they were looking for someone more senior than I was.
Second Position: I was contacted again for another position I applied for. While the first round interview with the senior engineering manager went very well, someone farther along in the process than I was accepted an offer. The second recruiter called me personally to tell me the bad news and shared my resume internally to others recruiters.
Unfortunately, none of the remaining positions left at the time were a good fit. It seems like it was just poor timing. I would happily apply again under different circumstances.
