Lengthy and staged selection process. It began at 07:00 AM, with a TOEFL PBT. Through the result of that test, almost all the candidates were discarded. I was the only "survivor" that day. Immediately after, I got interviewed by the Natural Sciences Department Head, whom inquired quite a lot by scientific and teaching background. Then, I got through another interview with one of their academic coordinators. She was particularly interested in my pathway learning English. Then, I was asked to sit a set of psychometric test, taking more than one hour to complete them. All of the aforementioned steps took place in one day. Afterwads, I got tasked the planning and performance of not one, but TWO demo classes: one for third graders, and the other one for HS seniors. During the demo class with third graders, there were FOUR faculty members observing my class. It feel excessive and invase, even interfering with the class flow. By the end of it, their feedback seemed more like a comprehensive listing of my "flaws", being one very peculiar: IT IS FORBIDDEN TO SPEAK A SINGLE WORD IN SPANISH! (mind the fact that the school is located in Bogotá, COLOMBIA). Second demo had two observants. By the end of the demo class, the Science Head requested me a THIRD demo class, based on some "doubts" about my skills. After such an exhausting process, it felt disrespectul and belittling the received feedback, since there was little to no room for praising or recognising positive features of my performance. Thus, I withdrew from the process.
