They normally take you to the back room and ask a lot of behavioral questions like "have you ever had a negative experience with a customer and how did you handle it. They usually want you to know your way around the videogames and nerd culture just so that you can push sales but it's not required.

Super quick interviewer was very kind answered any questions I had. She asked about my experience.Talked about what it it would look like working gave me a feel for how things run.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at GameStop (Houston, TX) in Jan 2024
Interview
Easily hired on the spot, only asked about 2 or 3 questions. Said I was fully qualified. But depending on the location and how desperate they are for people they can be somewhat picky but it’s honestly not too bad.
It was very easy they just asked me my knowedge of video game consoles and my schedule. It was not much to it, I did the interview standing up and it lasted 5 minutes and I got hired.
