      Director, Talent Development Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GLG (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process for this Director-level role began with high momentum; the first few rounds moved smoothly, with feedback and scheduling for subsequent steps delivered within days. However, as the process reached the final stages, this initial professionalism devolved into significant friction and a concerning lack of leadership accountability. The experience was marked by several professional red flags. I was asked to interview in person, yet arrived to a vacant office where no one was there to greet me, as the team was working virtually. I was also asked to prepare a presentation with very little guidance or context, yet I dedicated substantial time to ensuring it met a high strategic standard. After meeting with senior stakeholders and delivering that presentation, I was asked to join a 'sync' with the hiring manager that turned out to be a repetitive interview, forcing me to reiterate points already covered in my initial screen. Despite being promised feedback within a week of the final rounds, I was met with total silence for several weeks, eventually having to follow up myself to receive an update. That update—delivered the day before a holiday—was a generic rejection with no detailed feedback after months of interviewing. The final breakdown occurred when a feedback call was scheduled, then rescheduled, only for the hiring manager to be a complete 'no-show' for the second appointment. After waiting on the line for 20 minutes, it became clear that this is an organization that does not reciprocate the respect it expects from senior candidates. I would advise others to be cautious of the significant time commitment required here, as the internal leadership appears to be struggling with basic coordination and professional courtesy.
