    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Fuel Industries (Ottawa, ON).

    Interview

I had 1 interview over Skype with 3 individuals from Fuel, the interview began with general questions about my background. The interviewers then move on to questions about my work experience and management style, as well as my knowledge of the industry. After that I was asked some somewhat technical questions directly relating to producing games for the mobile market. Finally they ended with the standard "do you have any questions you want to ask us" question.

The interviewers were polite, friendly and did their best to put me at ease during the interview. While I did not end up being offered the position they let me know the results within a couple of days of the interview. Overall the interview process was a positive one, my one complaint would be that their was a quality issue on the Skype call and it was often hard to understand the interviewers questions as a result.

    Interview

    Initial communication: HR round
Second round: Skype interview (was pretty good and straight forward)
Third round: Toughest I guess. There will be round table conference kind of setting. People will question you on your resume and access you. This is the most important and toughest round i would say.

    Interview Questions

    • Nothing as such. But, when it comes to your resume, make sure you have your story done properly.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

No negotiation. However, HR asked my expectation in the first round.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Fuel Industries (Ottawa, ON) in April 2013.

    Interview

Received an email back approximately 2.5 weeks after firing off my first email. Went in for an interview the following week. At initial glance the employees were hard at work and while they did not seem to hate what they were doing, most of them looked stressed and overworked. This was even more apparent when I was interviewed by the person in charge of taking over the interview after the basic HR questions. The interview went well and the questions were exactly what I would expect but the person giving them seemed so tired and felt like he wanted to be done with the interview as fast as possible. I was told I would be given a skill test within the following 2 weeks but they never did and I never received an email back regarding the status of my application. The environment itself seemed like a fun place to be in but there was this overall feeling that everyone there had been overworking themselves to death.

    Interview Questions

    • None of the question were overly complicated. If anything they would subtly ask about which tools you are more comfortable using in order to find out your level of proficiency with it. You will also likely end up being asked how fast you can do certain kind of props and your ability to ramp up on tools fast. Most of the questions were fairly basic.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fuel Industries.

    Interview

First question I was asked was the expected salary range, so I gave it to them. It was followed but over an hour of experience related questions. I was then scheduled for a technical interview, in which I did quite well on. About a week later I was given an offer, which was less than 25 PERCENT of my expected salary! If you are not able to meet the salary expectation, no need to waste the time of the company as well as the potential candidate!

    Reasons for Declining

They offered the compensation of an intern in most companies to a person with years of experience and a degree. Please do your research before offering ridiculous salaries.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fuel Industries in February 2013.

    Interview

Was called to come in, next day. But was smart to ask about the job requirements and base salary range. Had to pry into it but was finally told it was in the 70K range. Thus refused it right away pretty much. With the amount of experience, the offer was just way way low.

Anywayz I was glad I didnt waste my time or theirs.

So it is true that their salary ranges are in the lows.
