Frustrating!
Process is Hiring Manager call, then a take home assignment, followed by review of code from assignment, then some company overview sort of rounds.
It's easy enough - shouldn't be a tough job to get, provided you do everything in Ruby On Rails and speak glowingly about Rails.
The take home assignment was a simple console application - but apparently needs to be done using Rails (not mentioned even once in the assignment itself). They waited for me to submit the assignment and then said - it should have been done in Rails. Well if you are so bent on that, how about telling me before I wasted 4 hours writing and documenting a solution.
If they are so inconsiderate in the interview process, I can guess their culture isn't much better. And I wouldn't want to join a company that writes it's backend in Rails anyway. I want to do something relevant.
Poor company and even the Engg. leads don't know or have any thoughts on how to pick the right tools for the right job. Avoid at all costs.
