This interview happened during the pandemic, so it may deviate a little from usual.
I applied directly through the website, the steps were as detailed there
1- Applications & questions,
2- Social fit & clarifications
3- The challenge
4- Technical interview
5- Vision, Motivation & Next Steps
They were quick to acknowledge my application, the first step were to fill in a small questionnaire, I was also given some more information about the role and the process.
The next step was the interview, which was with a team member, it was about 30 minutes where I was told a little more about the role, fleetster, the process and was free to ask questions as well, which I did and they clarified it well.
The challenge as mentioned, is to play the game Screeps(a programming game) and reach a specific level there, I didn't try the game before, so it was quite a different challenge from the "solve this algorithm" type, which to me was nice.
The fourth step was discussing about the results of the screeps challenge, also asking and being asked some more technical questions, most of questions were high level, there they also provided a good feedback about the test, always being quite clear about the whole process.
The next step was a trial, which due the pandemic I couldn't go to their office, fleetster also was accepting to make the trial work for both parties, which is really nice, I ended up doing a remote trial, where I got to experience working with the team, performing a few tasks, learning some of their processes and applications, it was a great experience, also this trial has compensation, so you can negotiate what's a good deal for both parties.
After the trial, they were understanding about having to stay on previous company for a while to end things there in good faith, the last steps were negotiations and how the on boarding and starting the work would actually go.
Overall it was a nice experience, even if I didn't get the job I'd say it was a well worth experience.
