I interviewed at First Convenience Bank (Burleson, TX)

      Interview

They made an offer and then withdrew it. I went in for the interview, and they straight up told me it was a sales job, that there wasn't really much "banking" I would be doing. I went in knowing this already, but I appreciated that they didn't try to blindside me. They told me at the beginning the only time they don’t make an offer is if the interviewee can’t handle sales. They detailed the job, explained the incentives, expectations, etc. They would pause to see if I had any questions, but then rush through their answers and it was hard to ask anything else. Some of my questions they redirected. When they explained there was a minimum daily/weekly/monthly quota a each individual and the entire branch was expected to meet (new accounts, giving loans, etc), I asked what happens if someone is unable to meet that? They wouldn’t answer. They just said, “Oh, we meet our goals.” And wouldn’t elaborate further. They did say new hires have a grace period and will be coached. They’re salesmen – they know how to deal with people. They told me they were trying to “over staff” there. They wanted excess salespeople, especially during the holidays. They also said their goal was to make everyone managers (to which I had a lot of questions and suspicions). At the end of the interview, they made their offer. I have a lot of customer service experience and some sales, so I knew I could do it, but I asked for two days to think about it. They enthusiastically said yes, not a problem and when I specifically asked who I contact to give my answer they told me to text the recruiter. About an hour after I got home from the interview the recruiter sent me an email that read, “Thank you for taking the time to interview for a position with First Convenience Bank. We appreciate your interest in our company.” And that management decided to go with someone else. I thought perhaps it was a mistake. I contacted the recruiter the following day and told her to let the management know I would like to accept their job offer. No response. The following morning the recruiter re-sent the rejection email. So yea, they made a verbal offer, did not want to send it to me in an email, and then withdrew the offer just an hour or so after the interview.
