      Senior Communications Specialist Interview

      Jun 5, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at FINRA (Washington, DC) in Apr 2024

      Interview

The recruiter had reached out after I applied to conduct a phone interview and then I was moved forward to an interview with the hiring manager, who was kind and professional. The panel interview was what came next and they extended the time to make sure I had the opportunity to learn more about the team as well. Where my issue sets in is the follow-up after that. No one knew what next steps looked like (as this was the last round interview) and said the recruiter would reach out to let me know. Whether or not I got the job, I feel like someone (the recruiter) following up with me is common courtesy, especially after they claimed to be old-school and I conducted myself with the utmost professionalism throughout. The only way I found out that I wasn't being offered the role was by seeing my application status being "closed" on Workday. I still followed up with the recruiter to say my thanks for the opportunity, wished everyone the best-of-luck, and just asked for any feedback they had because I believe in self-improvement. After only replying back to me because I reached out and saying they were off and had wanted to tell me on Monday (as this was happening on Friday and the whole week had already passed prior to that with no response), I said I would still love any insight and would speak to them then. There was no follow-up or contact at all. I believe that if someone gets to that point in an interview process, that is the least that can be done out of respect especially because that is how I approach my work personally. All to say, the hiring process here is not any different no matter what anyone claims. Ghosting is very real and is done here too unfortunately.
