I applied online. I interviewed at Everlane (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I applied online, received an email. Set up a phone interview. Like many start-ups, they don't have an HR department to screen people. So, my interviewer clearly did not have much experience with this process and was quite scattered. Also asking silly superfluous questions about my opinions about "Design." Again, very start-uppy, for everyone to share some sort of vision un-related to the position at hand. Then, I was given a project. Basic project. Again, quite scattered, missing important details. After I submitted the project, my interviewer asked some extremely unethical questions and tried to poach my sources.

Question 1
They flat-out asked me for a LIST of my current factories and suppliers. So incredibly unethical and shady it took me by surprise. Especially for a company that claims to want to put factories first and all that.... Apparently just a bunch of clever marketing. So, BEWARE to others in the Sourcing/Production/Development realm. They are clearing fishing for sources, hoping someone is dumb enough to give them away. It also sounds like their process is disorganized and stressful, i.e. the office has a florist but they don't have comp days for Asia trips. Disconnect much?
Anyway, I played along to see how they would cover the gaffe. They did not cover it.
