I applied online. I interviewed at Evelo Biosciences (Cambridge, MA) in Feb 2021
Interview
I applied online and received an email from the hiring manager to schedule a phone screening. Call went well with the manager and I received invitation to do a half day interview with the team. Interview format was just one on one meeting with all the team members and no presentation which was really weird. I think half day interview went really well and It looked like most of them liked my skill set and I met the hiring manager at the end and she said she really like my profile and would inform me about next steps in next few days. I waited for a week and emailed the hiring manager and HR about updates for the next steps. I never received any reply from them which i think is very un professional. I hope they understand everyone's time is valuable and when someone spent half day interviewing its a minimum courtesy to give candidates feedback. I hope they try to learn how to treat fellow scientists with respect.
I applied through university. I interviewed at Evelo Biosciences (Cambridge, MA) in May 2019
Interview
I got an email to interview about a week or two after I applied, and the in-person interview lasted for about 40 minutes. Three different people interviewed me throughout that time, mostly telling me about the work they do and then asking me questions.

Why are you interested in Evelo Biosciences?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Evelo Biosciences (Cambridge, MA) in Mar 2020
Interview
The phone screen was normal. The manager was speaking about the need and describing what they were working on so I was very excited to come visit. My in-house conversations were fine but I felt like having team members of random functions interview candidates when they have no idea what is required to make a good CTM makes no sense. It makes it come across more like a popularity contest based on what someone looks like or something else that is not the most important thing. I thought everything was great except when I encountered this one interviewer. She was incredibly negative about everything and especially CROs. She was very off-putting. She is very aggressive in the way she speaks to people and seeks to make individuals feel like they're lying about the work they've actually performed in previous companies. I would recommend that you will remove her from any interview panel because after speaking with her it made me not want to be there anyway.
