Worst interview experience I've ever had. The recruiting process was easy and we discussed various aspects of the role, including that I was looking for remote work. The recruiter said they were open to it and to talk to the interviewer. I was given a phone screen rather quickly and was excited because I really liked Etsy as a company.
When it came time for the interview I prepared quite a lot by looking through their engineering blog. The whole interview the HM seemed uninterested that I had done any research. Then when I asked about remote they were completely surprised and seemed upset that I had even been talking to them. I asked a few more questions and the time was done.
I followed up by email to the two recruiters thanking them for their time and to pass on thanks to the HM.
They both responded that they would follow back up with me. That was three weeks ago, and still no response. Thankfully other companies were great and I already have an accepted offer.
Not only will I never consider working for Etsy, I will avoid purchasing from Etsy and encourage others to do the same.
Update: A month later they just followed up to say that they picked someone else for the role, but had another role opening soon. I already had a signed offer complete with background check with another company by the time they got back to me. They also managed to misspell my name in the email as well. Stay away.
