The interview process consisted of an initial phone interview with the recruiter, then three interviews with members of the accounting team (manager, controller, and vice president), and an excel assessment.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Ethos Pet Brands in Nov 2025
Interview
I applied and got an invitation fairly quickly to take the next steps in the process for a role I'm highly qualified for. Instead of an actual interview, they provided a personality/leadership test to take.
There was zero information beyond that, so I assumed maybe this would take 10-15 minutes at the most, which I already found unprofessional to require a test before even speaking to a real person.
I start this test and it's an absolute joke. It starts out with 4 qualities and you have to say the one you're most like and least like, despite often all 4 being good qualities that you possess.
This test ended up taking an hour or so to complete with 150+ questions, questions that were mind numbing and irrelevant. Shortly after spending all this time on a test, I was told I was not a fit at all. So before the test, I was worth talking to, then after this ridiculous test, I was not.
It was a massive amount of time wasted and it's difficult to put into words how terrible all of the questions were on this test, how irrelevant to the actual job it was, and how disrespectful the process was to a candidate and to waste so much of someone's time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
When there are external situations that affect the team, I:
1. create space for discussions to support each other and share important changes
2. Keep their attention focused on getting things done to secure results
3. Propose improvement measure after considering possible ongoing issues.
you have to choose one that is your most likely and least likely choice. No context, no change to actually discuss nuances of situations or anything. Now imagine having 150 questions like this and then being disqualified because this company doesn't know how to interview people.
Here's another one
I am generally motivated by:
1. Setting goals that challenge me in my knowledge and abilities
2. Meeting ambitious goals with high quality that others have not met
3. Meeting delivery times and results efficiently.
Now you have to choose one that the least describes you. Can you believe this nonsense, and again, this took at least an hour and was 150 questions.
