I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Econoco (Hicksville, NY) in Oct 2023
Interview
Very bizarre process. The HR contact was new (3 months in) although it seemed she wasn't familiar with the hiring process. During the screening call, she completely skipped telling me more about the job itself and the company; she went straight into asking about my experience - which was fine but unusual, so I asked for more details about the position before we ended the call.
1st in-person interview went fine. It was fairly casual: myself, the HR contact, and the person this position would be reporting to.
2nd round in person started off fine and included myself, the HR contact, would-be manager and their boss. The e-mail was prefaced that this would be an interview with the leadership team but it was fairly disorganized with no less than 5 people jumping in and out of the room throughout the entire process. I had to repeat myself several times to get everyone on the same page.
Next, I receive a phone call from HR regarding updates. She was pushing me towards another role within the company. I found it odd she was asking what I've been doing since I got laid off since we addressed my employment status and experience during the last two interviews. The way she had worded it had a condescending tone - definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I agreed to meet with the other team since I'm open to other opportunities.
Went in for my last interview which went fine - lovely team.
Within the week, I received a call back from HR giving me updates that they hired someone else for the position. During the same call, she offered the alternative position which I requested a written offer while I take time to decide. I never received it.
Followed up and received no response.

Interview
First Interview was very casual after discussing portfolio and previous experiences.
Second interview had multiple people involved, one very adamant against remotely working, which wasn't part of the posting but I always ask.
Before the pandemic I accepted the position and then had to wait until now.
Dan and Joleen were understanding and reasonable people about the pandemic concerns, can't say what it would be like working with them but I liked speaking with them.
Third 'interview' meeting the owner felt very condescending and unheard, have to wonder if it's because I'm a woman. Misconstrued my concerns about pandemic with full time hours, which I am uncomfortable being in an office environment, not that I didn't want to work. Didn't give much leeway because I would be 'missing out on getting to know everyone in the corporate family' as if that's more valuable than keeping your employees safe. They have someone constantly cleaning but I don't think it's safer to work in an office than at home right now.
