One to one with the Geoscience director. Very informal. This was my first interview after many unsuccessful job applications. It lasted 3 hours. I had the opportunity to show some of the work I completed while at University and talk about my interests and ambitions. The interviewer talked mostly about the company and how it compared to its competitors. I was shown around the offices and was introduced to the staff. Overall, considering it was my first interview, I personally thought it was a positive experience.
However, I was under the impression I was being interviewed for a Hydrographic Survey position, not a Geoscience role. So naturally, prior to the interview I prepared for the wrong position. It was only at the end we both realised this and laughed about it. It was just down to miss communication.
Regardless of this, the questions I emailed after the interview were answered in full. I have nothing negative to say about this experience other than my disappointment of not getting through to the second round of interviews or getting the job.
