      Software Engineer Interview

      Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at EDF (London, England) in Dec 2022

      Interview

It's a two-stage process with an initial video call with the principal engineer. Followed by a technical test and another interview with more engineers. The first stage is much like a conversation. You speak about yourself, talk about the role, etc. A very pleasant and interesting conversation The technical test is a refactoring of an API call. The degree to which you must refactor is just known as "production-ready." The technical interview will involve explaining your code. Unknown to me is that you're required to do a lot more than a quick refactor. You'll be asked lots of questions and design decisions behind why you did what you did. This stage could have been more detailed. The last interview was terrible. It's the first time I've ever been insulted in an interview setting. Given what this stage was like, I think I might've been lucky to have been rejected. Because if candidates are treated this poorly, God knows what happens when you work for them.
