I had a relatively smooth experience. You will be placed in a pool when you passed the tests and initial interviews. Don't hesitate to accept interviews with different departments until you get an offer letter from one of them. A lot of information on each different departments are on the EBMUD website.

I went thru a pretty standard process - passed written test first, and then a panel interview was scheduled to meet with three people from the accounting department for about 30 min
After application, there’s a written test, then a panel interview, finally a hiring interview for the successful candidate. They do put candidates on hiring list from the screening process for fire opportunities that may come up.
