I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at E Source (Eugene, OR) in Nov 2025
Interview
After some initial interviews, E Source asked me to complete a take-home project which I would then present to an interview panel. I spent a week on this project and proudly turned it in, knowing that I had done a good job on it. They came back and said "After careful review, we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates for this role," without giving me the chance to present my work. This was a shocking about-face on their part and highly unsatisfying. They never told me what about my work was insufficient for their needs.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They had me design an ELT pipeline that would run in a Data Lake for several tables of electrical utility data.
Went through basic case studies. 3 rounds done by different employees followed by a fit interview that focused on past projects, industry experience, and challenging situations. Overall on par with industry standards.

Question 1
What was the most challenging client project I was on, why, and how did I address challenges?
The entire process lasted approximately two weeks and, unfortunately, felt like an unproductive use of time. I participated in three interviews, and in my view, companies should strive to be more efficient with candidates time. By the second round, the pool should ideally be narrowed to a few strong contenders to avoid leading multiple applicants on through an extended process without clear direction.
