I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Donegal Insurance Group in Nov 2024
Interview
First came the phone interview, and then the video interview. Questions were basic, but I can’t help but to feel like a lot of my time was intentionally wasted. The phone interview was a general conversation lasting 20 mins, but then the second interview turned into four different interviews, lasting two hours. Considering this was only a part time position, and the pay that was offered, I believe there is a better way to go about your hiring process. Making people jump through a surplus of hoops and wasted time, sadly seems to be the norm anymore. I would hope in the future that Donegal will more closely vet their candidates prior to holding such lengthy interviews, when it did not seem like I was ever the candidate they had intentions of moving forward with.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Donegal Insurance Group
Interview
I applied through employee referral. It started off smoothly with HR responding immediately with an email that I had got selected for a the first round and requested for dates to set up the phone interview, which i did immediately.
I got no response to my email for a week from HR. After sending reminders, HR apologized and we agreed to new proposed dates.
On the day of the phone interview, HR does not call on the scheduled time and missed the interview. I waited for 30 mins and then sent an email to the HR rep, received a response in the evening and apologized again for missing the call due to an unforeseen circumstance.
We finally rescheduled it again for the second time and this time i got the call on time.
The call went smoothly. The HR rep was very professional and easy to talk to. It was very conversational. HR went on to tell me how he had heard good feedback about me and then i asked him if there was anything that i could clarify that would help with getting the second round. He said No, he thought I did great and he would reach out with next steps after forwarding the resume to the manager.
In a week I promptly got a decline letter. I asked for feedback and got no response.
I thought ok fine, maybe i wasn't qualified for a staff UW, which I thought was odd since they had my resume and was referred to and should have had that information about me in the first place. But again, I guess it depends on the hiring manager to make that decision. A few weeks back, I applied for a UW position which surely i was well qualified for, But for then again, No email to know if I got it or not. No decline or any feedback. Feedback always helps and I know its not always possible but so much time is invested in preparing for these interviews and it can get discouraging when you do not get a response.
