I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Dizplai in Jun 2025
Interview
With Dizplai, the recruitment process was long and time-consuming. First, I was asked to do a technical task in my own time. This included a backend which involved setting up endpoints, a data persistence layer, and all of the code in between. They also wanted a frontend app developed too, written in React. In my opinion, this was too much and it gives me the impression the company does not respect people's time. That said, I still completed it and it took a lot of hours.
I waited a long time to hear anything back after submitting this. I assumed I had been unsuccessful and was feeling annoyed about not getting feedback after spending so many hours on it. However, after 6 weeks, they invited me to an interview.
In the interview, I was asked to write more code, adding some extra functionality to the code that I already written. I thought I had already written enough to be assessed on, however they decided my code in the interview stage was not up to standard and I got a rejection.
The interviewer seemed very tired and disinterested, they didn't allow me a chance to shine and totally shut down when I said I didn't really follow football, I was really surprised by this, it came across very unprofessional. They also couldn't properly answer the questions that I asked. It was a very bad experience.
