I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Deliveroo (London, England) in Oct 2018
Interview
This was the most awkward interview experience I have ever encountered!
I applied online and got response the next day from an internal recruiter to arrange for an initial phone call with the hiring manager. The call was arranged a week later. On the day I received a message asking me to push back the call by half an hour. I agreed.
The hiring manager called me 7-8 min late from a very noisy background (possibly public cafe) and without apologising for being late. She had repeatedly trouble hearing me.
After briefly explaining her background the hiring manager went straight to their script asking only 2 simple questions, which I easily replied. 10 min in the call, the hiring manager said that this was it and asked me for any questions.
This is where things got really awkward!! I naturally asked for more information around the structure of the team, the nature and size of the projects, the ways of working and so on. The hiring manager clearly didn't want to answer or didn't know how to answer and would only reply with a Yes or a No. I could sense she was annoyed. God knows why!! Then suddenly, she said that we have only 1 min left in the call and that she had to go, which I found extremely rude considering the fact that she called me almost 10 min late.
There was no next steps, no feedback. Just bye and hang up. I am still wondering what happened. Arrogance? Incompetence? Unprofessionalism? Whatever it is, I have let all my contacts know to keep away from this company.
Difficult to schedule interview due to panel in states. Got many weeks (and many hours preparing) into the process before rejection due to lack of essential experience that I never said I had. Took me way too far through the process for someone who didn't have an essential item on their CV. Waited many weeks to hear outcome.
Got into the interview that I'd prepared many hours for, and the manager said 'oh yeah the job has changed and i need to update the jd'
