I initially applied on the Datasite side of the business as a Sales Director (Individual contributor) had a great phone call with recruiter. She followed up with a next step, not with the hiring manager, but asked if I'd be interested in a Sales Manager role with a new company that they just recently acquired - Blueflame AI, and she stated my experience exceeded their needs for the other role, and the head of sales liked my profile. Of course, I said yes as I had been laid off from my previous leadership role. I met with the Head of Sales, and it was a complete waste of time. Since I didn't have SaaS experience, he was worried that my previous experience wasn't going to translate well. I challenged him on why he agreed to a meeting with me, and he was clearly just shopping around, as I was the first person he'd ever spoken to since opening the role. He was very belittling, and it was discouraging how, in one weekend, I went from overqualified for one role to underqualified for the role above it at THE SAME COMPANY. Honestly, ridiculous.
