Interviewed with close to a dozen different level managers, mostly superiors, some direct reports, HR and sales training, over two weeks from two continents.
Checked all their boxes and more, at first they were very welcoming, it did not last.
Strange general impression, most of the staff had almost exactly the same personality.
In a word, the Dataminr team came across as somewhat cult-like, they were obviously, and actually, in so many words said, looking for "mini-me" (clone) employees prepared to tow a very strict and limited party line.
They are a one trick pony, very dependent and fearful of Twitter, a shareholder, cutting off their principal information "fire hose".
They face severe limitations on whom they can sell product to for both political and administrative reasons.
Their sales staff is highly stressed, they feel they cannot meet their lofty sales numbers because of who they cannot sell to, which, at this time, is most of the world.
Dataminr is very sensitive about what the outside world thinks of them because of bad press they have had in the last two years, making them come across as squirrelly when questioned what keeps them up at night.
Although a book "unicorn" the uncertainty the company gives off should give any candidate, at any level, pause.
