      Senior Engineer Interview

      Apr 26, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at DRW (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2024

      Interview

I did a screening call with the recruiter who was really not friendly (quite rare in this industry), then the CTO who was okay, but seemed very stressed by his day. They both asked me to code a take-home exercise, I asked them both if it was okay to do it in typescript, they said yes. They take home exercise prompt made no sense, asking to build it with Python, but testing it with Junit (Java) or Rspec (Ruby). I sent them several emails to ask about that, never got a reply, did the coding in Typescript, got no reply, sent follow up emails and they finally told me I was rejected because they need it in Python or Java. Total jokers, ghosting candidates during the interview process, which was a first for me

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Make a Tetris game in the language of my choice. Or only in python, but with Java or Ruby testing frameworks. Actually it was in Java or python, too bad.
