The HM started the interview by saying we do not need one hour as scheduled, we jus need 30 mins for a quick conversation. Then he asked me a lot of questions about how my previous companies’ products work, the business model, how they make money and also how would I solve the specific problems at Coupang. The whole interview feels like he just wants to get free ideas. It was a very unprofessional interview and wasted my time.

Misaligned expectations and poor communication for senior product role at L7 level.
Pro's:
- Positive experience in Round 1 video behavioral interview with peer hiring manager
- Interesting problem space, company ambition in eCommerce and AI that made me apply and excited in Round 1 peer interview
- Efficient coordination logistically (emails, scheduling)
Cons :
- Lack of clarity about role closure before Round 2 peer video interview which started with this announcement of role closure and derailing whole interview, no communication, forced exploratory interview for business function but not Product with shadow interviewer (dont understand how it adds value)
- Recruiter unresponsive outside of interview logistics
- Candidate preparation time and effort not respected
General advice to recruiting teams : Ensure roles are still open before scheduling final rounds—especially for senior-level candidates. Communicate clearly when shifting role/team scope mid-process. Transparency is key to building employer brand credibility with experienced talent.
