Cashier Assistant (Front End Assistant) Interview

      May 31, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Sudbury, ON
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Sudbury, ON) in May 2015

      Interview

They called me about two weeks after I sent my application to schedule an interview. It was casual one on one interview in a college meeting room lead by the HR Manager of the warehouse. He asked me simple basic questions, like "tell me about yourself" and "what do you know about Costco" and "what's your availability". He had a copy of my resume with him, so I'm assuming he was making sure I was not contradicting myself as well as clarifying myself. It took no more than 15 minutes, and that's because we were chatting a lot. My second interview was with a Department Manager at Costco a week later. This was a bit more formal, although not that different from the first one. She asked basic questions like what do I know about Costco and to tell her about myself and my past experiences. She also asked me what were my strengths and how I would apply them as well as how I dealt with a busy, loud and somewhat chaotic environment. This again took 20 minutes tops, with a lot of chit-chat in between. The next day I had my final interview with the Warehouse Manager. That was quite formal. Then again it could've just been the nerves. Regardless, he asked me what I knew about Costco (again) and then he explained Costco's culture and their reputation, their goals and accomplishments. He then went on telling me about the fast-paced environment, the member-first mentality and the no-advertisement-all-word-to-mouth-marketing style (always starting his statements with "if you're hired", not "when"). I was called 2 days to schedule my orientation and signed all documents and paperwork that day.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale in Nov 2025

      Interview

This was for a seasonal position. Went in and got seated in the breakroom. They called me in after about 15 minutes. I was interviewed by the Admin manager and the Front end manager. It went really well! They dud an amazing job of making me feel comfortable. I handed them copies of my resume and they were just pointing things out and asking me about that and what my plans were at Costco, considering the prestige of my college degree and my professional experience thus far. After that they asked me general situational questions. Told me to wait in the breakroom again to speak with GM. Conversation with him took less than 5 minutes. He told me my resume was impressive, also asked me what I was hoping to gain at Costco. Afterwards told me to be on standby to get my drug test done. That took about 15 minutes and I had orientation 2 days later.
