      Interview

My sister worked at Costco in the optitian department so she told the head boss of Costco that I needed a job. I talked to him he said do a application online so I put one in. About 2 weeks later I got an interview but didn't keep calling. That's where I messed up. And I had no work experience.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Wharton, NJ) in Jul 2018

      Interview

I love Costco, I really do. I think they're an amazing company as a whole. One of my family members has been a manger for 26 years and has no reason to quit ever. Sadly my interview process didn't reflect that, at all. Honestly, the Wharton Costco needs to have a chat with one of their managers on what general socializing, interviewing, and customer service is and isn't. My first interview was with a woman who ran the food court. It last up to 30 minutes. She was amazing. She really asked the right questions and tried to get to know me and my work experience. At first I had a positive view of working at the Wharton Costco. She was very sociable, outgoing and sweet. I got a call for a second interview. I arrived and introduced myself to this woman who was interviewing me. She stared at my hand and then at me. She told me her name. She never told me her position or anything. Throughout the interview this woman made no eye contact with me. The moment I started feeling awkward because of just how awkward the interview was, it went downhill. The manager only asked me several questions. First was about the fact I was still in college, in which gave me a dirty look and pursed her lips, irritated for some bizarre reason by that fact. This interview took 10 minutes. She just stared at my resume. and kept saying "uhhhh... uhhh... uhhh.... what would, uhhh, what would (insert name) who works, uhhh, at (insert company name) say uhhh, about you if I, uhhh, called them?" she asked me that same question everytime about my previous jobs. She mispronounced several very well known companies and proceeded to give me another dirty look as she questioned me about the year long internship I did in high school, which irritated her again for some bizarre reason. The only hilarious part was she thought I worked at a place called "Moron's", because she couldn't even read a typed application in large print, and stated it as well. This 10 minute interview with this manager was so unprofessional, and honestly down right pathetic. She clearly didn't prepare or even bother to care to prepare for the interview. She didn't even say goodbye to me, and start laughing as I walked away. When you're interviewing candidates, you normally try to get to know them. Also, when interviewing, you are representing your company. It scares me that someone who comes across as cold, aggressive, uncaring, with her nose in the air and is bizarrely jealous of someone who may be working hard to attain an education that she may lack, has a powerful position at that Costco.
