      Debt Counselor Interview

      Nov 11, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Fairport, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at ConServe (Fairport, NY) in Dec 2015

      Interview

First was a phone interview, then they had me take an online assessment that asked how you would handle certain situations when dealing with consumers. Then there were two in-person interviews.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Pretty standard interview fare. Just be honest, because they will do thorough background checks, especially if you are applying for a government contract position.

      Debt Counselor Interview

      Jan 4, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Cheektowaga, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ConServe (Cheektowaga, NY) in Oct 2016

      Interview

VERY VERY INTENSE!!!! First, you submit a resume. Second, if you meet their standards, they will send you an online simulation to test your skills as "a debt counselor." If you do good on this test they will follow up with a phone interview. Following my phone interview, I was called back about a week later and asked to come in to meet with HR. This is where it became nerve wrecking!! So as soon as I walked in, I was informed that I would first have to take another test in their office. This test had honestly nothing to do with the job whatsoever!! After taking the second test, HR came in interviewed me, touching basically on my past experience and education. After HR is done interviewing you, they have a manager come in and basically "drill" you with questions. NO EXAGERATION!! It was a lot. I walked out proud of myself b/c even if I wasn't to get the job, I knew I could conquer any interview after that one. They did end up calling me about a week and a half later, and I was pretty proud of myself. I now work here and I really do like it. Also, they are government contracted and you need to be able to obtain a federal government security Clarence... This is why it was such an intense process but I'm glad I did it :)

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Many "tell me a time when this happened, and how did you deal with it?" "Tell me in your experience when dealing with the public when a situation turned bad and how you turned it around into a positive situation?" "Tell me about a situation when you had to persuade someone into changing their mind"

      Debt Counselor Interview

      Dec 19, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Rochester, NY
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at ConServe (Rochester, NY) in Sep 2015

      Interview

I applied because I searched top places to work in Rochester, NY. ConServe came up in search results and I wanted to start over with a great company in my home city, so I applied online, received a call to setup a face to face interview in the Fairport location. The interview was less than 15 minutes after waiting 15 minutes in this small waiting room watching employees walk in and out to and from the bathroom looking like they are all having the toughest day's of their career there, that's when I should've left. After 1 year and 3 months of being here, it sucks your soul from your body, and the people who thrive here are not people or at least not anymore. If you are not a human being or have empathy, work for conserve and make $12 an hour.
