Complex drive is constantly hiring, this is due to the extremely low pay they give most of their workers. So I saw a craigslist ad and decided to respond with my resume and cover letter. I was contacted by a secretary that told me to come in on a certain day, which I did.
You are put into a room and given a test on both windows and linux based operating systems / networking. After 15-20 minutes passes the head honcho super networking master enters the room and looks over your test. Then the fun begins.
From my own experience, and via talking to a few friends who also interviewed at the same location what happens is the same. The IT/Network master eats your soul. He starts asking you questions, if you get them right he asks your harder more complex questions until you get it wrong. If you do get it wrong he will not explain the answer. On some level he is judging your actual knowledge of subjects you claim to have experience in, but on a much more realistic level he is simply making you feel stupid compared to his incredible amount of knowledge.
I have since been told that one of the key things he is looking for is your ability to admit that you don't know an answer. Which I had no trouble with, although it did frustrate me that I couldn't get an answer out of him. In the end, when he had finally finished thoroughly dumping on any confidence I had, I still feel I did well.
The question of compensation then came up, and unlike most companies that will negotiate a salary to some level, it was a standard starting wage. I forget if it was $10 or $11/hr, either way I was floored and thanked them for the time.
I can't imagine working at a job where some one takes that amount of pride in making some one else feel low, let alone for barley above minimum wage.
