      Customer Service Representative Interview

      Aug 30, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Comcast (New York, NY) in Aug 2021

      Interview

Filled out an application and received a notice the next day that I had rescinded my application and if this was a mistake to contact them. Tried several times to no avail, no one answers the phone in HR, there is a voicemail menu that is only helpful to current employees, so I tried to reapply but was blocked due to same email address that I had applied under, so I applied using a different email, got my resume and application in and was surprised to receive a nice email this time stating that they wanted to give me a "a trial, virtual remote customer service test so they could assess my skills. Portions of the test were ambiguous, considering that I have never had any training or been completely familiar with Comcast products, technical information, etc. Portions of the test seemed more like a bizarre type of "DISC" test with little or no time to even read all the questions and responses and decide before the next one popped on the screen, and they asked the same questions over and over in a slightly different format. Portions of the test were timed, other portions were not, so I took my time with those and the test that was supposed to take about an hour took about 1.5 hour, I lost track of the time. Immediately after this bizarre testing experience I received an email stating that I was not being considered and could take the test again in 6 months. No thank you. I have spoken with Comcast Customer service reps and you are lucky if you get an American, they all have a weird accent that is difficult to place which country they are in, but they all sound very similar with the same accent. Comcast doesn't seem to WANT to hire Americans for their American service, they want to send it out overseas for cheaper help who customers can barely understand their accent. Not a good experience with this company. They totally wasted my day with their bizarre ambiguous test. I seriously doubt anyone with customer service experience could pass that test. it was probably set up to fail so the company has an excuse to hire offshore cheap help.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

ambiguous virtual customer service test. not enough time to read many of the questions, screen changed to next question super quick, multiple choice questions had all sub-part answers, none seemed correct. For a customer service job paying less than $20 they seem to want an Einstein genius who can pass their IQ-level virtual customer service test without knowing anything about their company, their customer service, software, etc. They give you a quick few minute tutorial and expect you to pass with flying colors.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Comcast (Philadelphia, PA) in Feb 2026

      Interview

I am currently internal so I applied online. Had a 15 minute screening call with the recruiter asking basic questions. First interview was with hiring manager. Very conversational with a couple "formal" questions. Second interview with the sales team. More difficult trying to drill down to how I work and why I should be chosen.
