Senior Software Engineer, Tools & Infrastructure Interview

      Sep 1, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Burlingame, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Color (Burlingame, CA) in Sep 2021

      Interview

Recruiter contacted me after applying and was very friendly. Scheduled an interview with a Senior or Staff Level Engineer. The interview is scheduled for one hour and the interviewer wanted to jump right into the coding question and then if time permits get to Q & A. Asked an open ended question and I came up with a solution after few min of thinking to which he seemed to be happy with and asked me to implement and gave a suggestion/hint which would help me with the solution. I tried to take the hint and go down that path. He stopped me and clarified that that was not what he intended, this went on for two more times and he suddenly decided he no longer needs to go on with the interview and ended it abruptly. Worst interview experience ever.
