      Associate Interview

      May 30, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Close Concerns in Oct 2022

      Interview

After applying, I received an email asking me to complete a writing assessment. The assessment involved summarizing research materials in Close Concerns style. After completing the assessment, I received an email saying that they were not moving my candidacy forward and that they were looking for a "very specific type of applicant."

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Write a newsletter similar to one written by Close Concerns. What would you say about the benefits of X for patients? Draw conclusions from a research presentation.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Close Concerns (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2024

      Interview

The interview process was dragged over several months-- I applied in late October and did my final round in early April. I felt strung along throughout the entire process, which was disorganized and unclear about what was desired. I would not recommend applying to this company.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Close Concerns

      Interview

I had to complete one timed writing exercise, had a call with two current team members, and a call with the CEO. The next steps would have been a strengths assessment, followed by an in-person interview in their SF office. There's no point in applying early, as they have a long recruitment process and you can wait for months before communication about the next step. I would appreciate if they would communicate early on that you are no longer being considered for a position rather than (what feels like) leading you on. It's also evident that they're looking for a specific fit, which is great for the organization. I do wish that the CEO had been more focused during the interview and less condescending in parts of our conversation. I found that to be disappointing. Otherwise, the team members were very kind and quick to respond to questions. It sounds like they achieve some really exciting work and that they're passionate about what they do.
