      Director, Global Communications Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Cision (New York, NY) in Apr 2025

      Interview

After multiple rounds of interviews and what I believed to be a thoughtful, engaging process, I was verbally offered a role at Cision for a Director-level Communications position. I accepted the offer in good faith and began mentally preparing for this new chapter—only to receive a formal withdrawal email days later. Cision stated that internal restructuring led them to reframe the role to a lower level (Senior Manager), and they chose to proceed with another candidate. While I understand that business needs evolve, revoking a verbal offer due to internal misalignment is highly unprofessional and speaks to larger issues around organizational leadership, communication, and respect for candidates' time and trust. What’s most disappointing is how enthusiastically they communicated about the “perfect fit” and my “exciting potential,” only to reverse course abruptly. It felt like a bait-and-switch—and left me questioning the company’s culture and internal cohesion. I’m sharing this review to caution others: be wary of accepting any verbal offer from Cision until you have everything in writing. This experience was not just disheartening—it was a red flag. Advice to Management: If you truly value candidates, align internally before extending offers. Your process reflects your culture, and this one left a lasting negative impression.
