The process was fast and easy. It was a great step to the working journey. Considering it was a first job there weren't many references that I could have used at the time, it was fine.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Chuck E. Cheese (Hickory, NC) in Aug 2023
Interview
I got an interview after applying online and then calling the store about my application 2 weeks later. The next day I got an SMS message from the GM to come in next week for an interview. Throughout a week the General Manager walked me through the steps of the hiring process and 9 days after my interview I had my first shift. I recommend having a drivers license, a social security card and a computer to access the necessary websites with. I was not assigned to watch training videos which was odd. Be prepared to buy belts, jeans, polos, and a watch. Also, please don’t lazy out during the hiring process, it is not good. Just a heads up, if you can handle working with high school kids then go for this job, but be prepared to deal with some minor disagreement should they arise. The kids and parents are good for the most part, just try to keep them happy. After all, they are paying a lot to be there with their children.
[Edit 11/19]: Made a minor change to make the review more friendly.
The GM was very chill and laid back. We had a pleasant discussion about the job. We took a moment to get to know each other and I learned about how long he’s been with the company and how what area he’s from. I was even given a chance to voice my ambitions for the job. The GM really liked my personality and noted that during that interview. It was described at “Bubbly” and “Bright”. When I asked if I got the job I was informed that he believes everyone should get a chance, which was nice to hear. Just be laid back and your true genuine self; you will likely get an offer. I couldn’t hold back exclaiming “AWESOME!” with a double thumbs up when he told me I was hired. I had a great time with the interview, the burning anxiety I felt going in was quick to fade. That night I celebrated with a bag of sour gummy worms and a movie rental.
