I applied online and was contacted by recruiter one week later. After being asked about my salary requirements, the recruiter indicated the pay was out my desired of range and wished my good luck in my job search. The next day, the recruiter called me back to say the hiring manager still wanted to interview me. I assumed this meant the manager was willing to meet my salary requirements. (lesson learned - don't assume).
Met with hiring manger (who was a director) at Miami Gardens corporate office. Positive interview experience with the right mix of traditional interview questions and specific questions on my work experience and skills listed on resume. I also appreciated the time spent providing a thorough overview of the company, the department, and the specific job function.
Follow up interview at same location with manager on director's team. More informal discussion, geared towards facilitating remaining questions I had.
Overall good interview experience.
A few days later was offered the position, but at a salary way below my already established required range. I declined. Was called again the next day with a salary a little closer still note within desired range. This left me with a negative view and leaves me questioning their integrity. This tactic seemed shady and more inline with a used car purchase negotiation versus a company interested in attracting professional talent.
