I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Charles River Laboratories (Singapore)
Interview
- technical questions test before face to face interview
- hiring manager was defensive about answering job description related questions, felt like many things to hide
- hiring manager started questioning my questions like I’m not allowed to ask questions, kept asking why I’m asking, do I have a problem. I turned some questions around back to her and she went silent she couldn’t find an answer. If some answers are sensitive and cannot be disclosed, she could have just said it simply, obviously no one would force
- hiring manager’s tone and choice of words felt condescending, overall had a very bad impression of the culture she might impose on the team
- considering how the company was presented pre-interview about how so many other companies go through them for product testing, the salary offer range is way below market rate for what they expect from the incumbent
I applied online. I interviewed at Charles River Laboratories (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2021
Interview
Began with a telephone interview, introductions, broad questions and answers, employment history and your availability. Then, invited to attend an in-person interview, asked in-depth questions about skills and abilities, attitudes, and experience; position-related questions.
Online assessments test for abilities that don’t come across in interviews, for the matching of skills with relevant jobs.

Interview
Formal interview, but made me feel comfortable throughout. Not very long, actual interview was around 30 mins and got a quick tour of the site. Took a while to hear back regarding the job offer. However, I guess this depends on how many applicants there are.
