I applied online. I interviewed at Charles River Associates in Nov 2022
Interview
Quick and seamless process. Applied in October 2022, got a call for technical assessment and first round interview with case study by the end of the month. Technical assessment: - 30 mins for mathematical assessment: conventional online job assessment level questions, no high level of mathematical knowledge required, just quick speed and applications of percentages - 30 mins of written assessment: Summarising an article from FT or The Economist. Word limit is usually 500 words First round interview: General questions, how was your day? Tell me a bit more about yourself, your courses at university. Given a case study document (14 pages long) and had 30 mins to read it and make notes. Then was asked to give a verbal presentation on a merger analysis using the information in the case study document. Repeatedly interjected by the interviewers for questioning, but they were very kind and helpful. They don't make you feel nervous. Having a thorough knowledge of microeconomics and econometrics is necessary. Final Round Interview: Interviewed by VP and Director. Technically grilling and more advanced questions about firms entering and leaving a market and how it is likely to affect competition. Again, a thorough knowledge of econometrics along with some economic theory is a must. Interviewers will lead you to answers if you're stuck. Just be confident. Found this section hard. Offer: Heard back after a month, had an offer, gladly accepted it :)
Two technical interviews, with example real world scenarios. Real world scenarios could be BEC, ransomware, or dead-box forensics. Then, two "personality/vibe" interviews, where they asked about how you handle failure, difficult or new scenarios, and what your work approach is.
There are two rounds of interview for incoming analysts, One with two juniors, fairly quick and not technical. There was also a second interview with 4 rounds, each of which was with a more senior level person
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why I am interested in the practice area I applied for
Smooth. 2 rounds of interview. A lot of questions surrounding research experiences and data processing. Not too many technicals. Many fit questions as well. Generally not difficult and got back to me pretty fast.
