Cerium Networks Apprentice Developer - DevOps/AI interview questions

There was an initial phone screen with a recruiter where we discussed things like interview process and company culture. The next step was a technical interview with two engineers. I was asked to code hash algorithm where any collisions where to be aggregated and summed. I did not entirely understand the purpose of the exercise but I completed it anyway. I was rejected for the position. I asked for feedback and was provided none.
