I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Center for Student Missions (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2015
Interview
Phone interview, then had to visit one of the sites to observe and do an in person interview. I observed at the Chicago site, and ended up working in Houston. It was very helpful to actually see, in person, the living conditions. However, the conditions at the site I visited were MUCH better than the conditions I ended up living in.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Center for Student Missions (Philadelphia, PA)
Interview
First, there was a Skype interview with the City Director of the city you applied for. If there was a chance you could be hired for that upcoming summer, a more in depth second Skype interview or a site visit to that city was the next step. At that point, they either offer you the job on the spot, contact you a few weeks later, or let you know that you have not been selected.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Center for Student Missions
Interview
Met with the director of CSM and had a pretty informal conversation about why I wanted to work for CSM and about what led me to be interested in urban missions work. I was offered the position at the end of the interview, although I don't think this is a normal occurrence.
